Frequently asked questions

For visitors

How are reviews moderated?

Every review goes through the shared scam filter, and a new account's first few reviews are checked by a moderator before they go live — after that, most reviews post immediately. Three or more "bait-and-switch" tags on the same listing trigger a visible warning banner. You can read more about staying safe before you visit.

Can I see who wrote a review?

Yes — click a reviewer's username on any review to see their public page: how long they've been a member and their other approved reviews. There's nothing else on that page, and it's never indexed by search engines.

What does "most reviewed," "top rated," and "recently reviewed" mean?

Three different sort orders over the same pool of reviewed listings — most reviews first, highest average rating first, and most recent review activity first. The same options are available as a sort on any city’s listing page.

Can I add a photo to a listing that isn't mine?

Yes — any signed-in member can submit a photo from a listing's page. It goes into the same moderation queue as an owner's own photos and only appears once approved. You'll get a notification either way.

What does "recently viewed" use?

A small cookie on your own browser, listing the last few places you looked at — nothing is logged on our servers, and no one else can see it.

How do I report a scam, or something more serious?

Use the Report button on the listing. Trafficking and underage concerns are prioritized immediately, and a corroborated report can auto-hide a listing while it’s investigated — see the Safety page for hotline numbers. We never ask for a deposit, a card number, or any payment to unlock a listing or a review — anyone asking you for that on our behalf is running a scam, not us.

What’s the "Report closed" button?

A one-click way to tell us a business has shut down. It goes to the same moderation queue as a suggested edit, and doesn’t change the listing until an admin confirms it.

How do favourites work?

Save a listing with the heart icon and find it later at your favourites page. If a saved listing later closes or is marked raided, you’ll be notified.

For business owners

How do I submit a new listing?

Use Add a listing. It’s checked for duplicates against existing listings and other pending submissions, then reviewed by a moderator before it goes live.

How do I claim a listing that already exists?

Open the listing and use the claim option. We verify claims manually, by phone, against the number published on the listing — there’s no automatic approval.

What can an owner do once a listing is claimed?

Respond publicly to reviews, keep hours and amenities current, manage exterior/interior photos, and see any photos a member has submitted for approval. Owner responses and edits are separate from a member’s own review — neither can edit the other’s content.

Can I download my data?

Yes — Download my data gives you a single JSON file with your account, reviews, votes, favourites, submissions, and (if you own a listing) its photos, once every 24 hours.
